1. 𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟𝗦 𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗥

We are delighted that children from 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 have created some fantastic artwork expressing their feelings about the Green Belt in and around Kilburn and Horsley.

We were so inspired by their work that we have produced a large banner featuring many of the children’s creations (photographs attached).

For maximum visibility the banner has been installed outside 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹. Please make a point of going to see it if you’re passing.

Our 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗿𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻, for their brilliant support.

2. 𝗦𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗞 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗧

Start: Hunters Arms Car Park, Church Street, Kilburn

Join our 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸 across the Green Belt fields we are campaigning to protect, marking the National Day of Action for Nature.

Free to attend, family-friendly and open to all.

The route continues to Horsley for breakfast cobs and refreshments at The Coach & Horses before returning to Kilburn.

3. 𝗕𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 - 𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗬 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗

Following concerns raised some time ago by residents about habitat destruction on the 𝗣𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) site between Horsley Road and Derby Road, additional photographs and location details have now been submitted to Amber Valley Borough Council.

Cllr Matt Murray has confirmed that this updated information and imagery have been passed to planning officers and that the issue has been raised with them again. 𝗖𝗹𝗹𝗿 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝗺.

We are currently awaiting clarification from the Council regarding what has taken place on the site and whether the works are consistent with the agreed BNG arrangements. We will provide a further update as soon as more information becomes available.

4. 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗚𝗡 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗦 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

Here is a quick reminder of where things currently stand and what happens next:

• The Wheeldon application (AVA/2025/0587) remains under consideration by Amber Valley Borough Council. The Council has indicated 𝟯𝟬 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 as the target date for a decision, although 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘁

• The community has now submitted an incredible 𝟭,𝟮𝟳𝟴 formal objections

• SKHGB submitted a comprehensive strategic objection document, available here:

• Donations from residents and parish councils have enabled us to commission professional advice - more to follow

• SKHGB continues to monitor the application closely and stands ready to respond to any changes or new evidence submitted by Wheeldon

Next steps in the formal planning process:

• Planning officers will prepare a report setting out their recommendation to the Planning Committee

• The application will then be decided at a formal Planning Committee meeting
