The latest news from your committee.

1. 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗢𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

Amber Valley Borough Council has extended its decision date to 30 April 2026 – this may slip again. We will advise once we know the date it will go before the Planning Board.

We are planning to have a friendly, visible community presence at the AVBC offices on the day of the Planning Board. More details will follow soon so you can join us if you wish. This will be a 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲, and we need to maintain our visibility to the decision makers.

2. 𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘

The Planning Inspectorate has issued its updated report on the Amber Valley Local Plan 2022-2040.

The Inspectors confirm that the 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 the borough, subject to targeted modifications which have now been addressed. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱 and will provide a clear and deliverable framework for sustainable growth through to 2040.

Adoption of the new Local Plan is on the agenda for full council meeting on 2 March and we remain confident it will be accepted. Having the updated Local Plan in place before a decision is made on our site is 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲.

3. 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧

Wheeldon submitted a Revised Transport Assessment on 27 January. We are expecting Derbyshire County Council Highways’ updated response shortly. That, together with the independent expert Transport Appraisal we commissioned, will allow us to assess whether this revision carries any more weight than the original submission, which was clearly inadequate. We will update you as soon as we know more.

Following the hugely successful Winter Walk, we are hosting an 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸 to coincide with the National Day of Action for Nature, organised by the Community Planning Alliance.

Communities across the UK will be celebrating and protecting the green spaces they love. We will once again walk across the beautiful fields we are fighting to protect.

This is a free, family friendly community event. 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱.

The walk will take us across the Green Belt fields to Horsley. The Coach & Horses has kindly offered to open early so walkers can enjoy breakfast cobs and refreshments before the return to Kilburn. We expect to finish by 11.30am.
