It was fantastic to see so many supporters at Ripley Market Place as the SKHGB committee – with a little help from Santa – handed in over 380 new objections to Amber Valley Borough Council. It was an early Christmas present and a powerful show of community resistance to protect the Green Belt.

Members of SKHGB and local residents gathered to submit the new objections, pushing the total number of objections past 1,250.

The campaign was first inspired by Jasmine, a nine-year-old from the local community, who pinned her hand-drawn protest poster to the gate of one of the fields the developer wants to build on. Her simple idea helped shape the whole campaign, including the now-familiar slogans:

• Trees Not Tarmac
• Cows Not Concrete
• Fields Not Floods
• 🦇 Bats Not Bulldozers

Many thanks to everyone who came along, thank you to Santa, and special thanks to Jasmine and her friends, and Mr Hull from Kilburn Junior School.
