Save Kilburn and Horsley’s Green Belt is a volunteer-led, strictly apolitical community campaign group coordinated by a local committee based in the heart of Amber Valley, Derbyshire. Our campaign was formed in response to proposals to build an estate of 200 new houses on protected Green Belt land between Kilburn and Horsley.
We believe that this development would not only destroy precious habitats and alter the character of our villages forever but also increase the risk of flooding and set a dangerous precedent for reclassifying ‘Green Belt’ land as ‘Grey Belt’. There are no ‘special circumstances’ to justify this proposal going ahead.
We’re not against thoughtful, sustainable development — but it must happen in the right places, not at the expense of the countryside and community we love. Our goal is to ensure that local voices are heard, our environment is respected, and that our Green Belt remains protected for future generations.
Save Kilburn and Horsley’s Green Belt Committee is made up of 14 residents who care deeply about protecting the beautiful countryside that surrounds Kilburn and Horsley — our fields, wildlife, and green open spaces that make this such a special place to live.
Our mission is simple: To protect the Green Belt land in Kilburn and Horsley, preserve local wildlife habitats, and stand together as a community to ensure that development decisions are made responsibly, transparently, and with respect for our shared environment.
